This is about my journey into the land of Lap-Band. After struggling with my weight for all of my adult life, I have decided to do finally something about it. My Surgery Date was December 11, 2009

Jinx
Don't want to jinx myself, but I was putting some summer clothes in storage today and I had this realization that if all goes according to plan I will not be wearing them next summer...and I got really excited! The thought of getting rid of all these 22-24-26 2x 3x clothes sounds great! But then, I stopped myself short and thought....one step at a time, that is what got me this far, don't jump the gun, etc. So with that said, I won't get rid of anything until it is time to, and they actually don't fit anymore, and I figure that way, I will reverse any jinx that I may have created by thinking too far ahead :-)

I so know what you mean! I have got rid of a few things that I never plan to fit in again. I feel like such a weight (both literal and figurative) has been lifted since I got my band. I just want to clean up my whole life. I can't wait to tackle my stuffed closet filled with all sizes anywhere from 16-24 and boxes in the basement filled with sizes ranging from 8-16. It is hard to believe by this time next year I should be able to get rid of a whole lot of that stuff. Cheers to smaller sizes!
ReplyDeleteIsn't great to feel like change is possible and should be soon? I think the process you are going through right now helps get you ready. (and the blogging helps too!)
ReplyDeleteLinda... I say get rid of all of them except maybe your favorite two or three things (tops / bottoms)... you don't need any motivation to fit INTO them - you need motivation to fit OUT of them!!! :-) Keep up the great work! It was so liberating this weekend to purge. SCARY, but liberating!
ReplyDeleteIt's ok to get excited!
ReplyDeleteI call it de-crapping - it was my New Year's Resolution to once a week de-crap something in my house - it's been easy this year with the rapid change through clothes sizes, but I've also de-crapped all the other closets in the house, the workshed, my craft room, my books, my kitchen. Every Tuesday night I spend at least 10 minutes walking through the house and I grab one or a few items that either get donated or tossed or, sometimes, repurposed. I have gone from size 22 in Jan. to size 10 now. My blog is sallyslapbandjourney.blogspot.com. Congratulations and good luck!
ReplyDeleteLinda,
ReplyDeleteLove reading your blog and yes!...its fun to give away all those sizes. Its even more fun to give away sizes you just bought because you are losing quickly! Just thought Id drop you a line because I live in Birmingham, am a patient of Dr. Krause's and am 6 months post-op with a band. Feel free to email me if you have questions or want to talk...
